With more than fifteen years experience in community organisations and leadership training roles throughout New Zealand, Mike decided in 2004 to develop my skills and train towards becoming a registered Counsellor, gaining his Bachelor of Counselling through Bethlehem Tertiary Institute.
Mike went on to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences (Alcohol and Drug Studies) from Auckland University, as well as a Certificate of Addiction and Mental Health Supervision

Today he has over 19 years experience in counselling, supervision and mentoring. Mike has also facilitated many mental health and leadership development training events, including the facilitation of Living Wisdom Bay of Plenty under the supervision of David Riddell.
Mike has considerable experience as a Drug and Alcohol Counsellor, working as a Registered Clinical Practitioner with DAPAANZ (Addiction Practitioners’ Association Aotearoa-New Zealand) and Mental Health Worker in Tauranga for several years. He now works privately as a Counsellor, Presenter and Registered Clinical Supervisor for counsellors, managers and business leaders.
Mike is also a full member of the NZCCA (New Zealand Christian Counsellors Association).
Counselling methods can vary depending on each individual, however Mike offers a range of techniques including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Interactive Drawing Therapy, and specialises in Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (recognised by its use of Truth Coaches) modalities with clients.
